I don't have any kids, so why should I care what happens to our species? The planet will be just fine without us. So what if we take out a few other species with us? That's what I think, sometimes. Other times, I think "Stop digging up and burning nasty stuff that the planet has safely buried." I have some allegiance to humans, for whatever reason.
